Carol McGimpsey was born in North Bay but grew up in Burlington ON: a bedroom community that had a wonderful library and every kind of activity a kid could wish for, and where every house on the block participated in Hallowe’en. But there comes a time when the suburbs grow stale, so after a B.A. in English at McGill and an M.A. at Concordia she became immersed in a whole other kind of culture. She spent the 1990’s managing a bookstore in Halifax, then it was back to Montreal and a job in educational textbook sales which takes her from coast to coast. On the road much of the time, her days are spent visiting universities and her nights seeing live music whenever and wherever she can. It’s a good gig!
